Welcome to the third update of the World Cup 2022 ONS Superbru competition!!

Morocco 0 Croatia 0

Another shut-out and it looks like the Croatia team are in decline. They lack the firepower up front but another great result for Morocco.
In our competition we had no takers for 0-0 but we did have two draws – one for Joe Drew and the other for Gareth Luckwell.

Germany 1 Japan 2

Another shock – although less of a surprise than Saudi Arabia. And it followed the same template as that game with Argentina – a soft penalty awarded to the “favourites” and two great goals from the underdogs.
Great result for the Samurai Blue!
In our competition – another game where there is nil points pour tout le monde!

Spain 7 Costa Rica 0

A rare shellacking here at the World Cup with Spain taking it to Costa Rica. Never really a contest. This was also the biggest margin of victory by Spain against Costa Rica at this years World Cup – stats eh! Andrew Walton came closest in the prediction stakes with a 6-0!!

Beglium 1 Canada 0

Pre-match this was a disappointing end of day contest, but how wrong can you be. Canada took Belgium to the cleaners. Firstly Belgium were astonishly poor, but Canada played the perfect high press game and if they had a striker it could have been 5-1.
In the end Belgium were lucky to shade the 1-0. Again, no exact scores dealt out but a host of 1.5 close predictions.

Pool Results

On our fourth day, the breakaway pack are still holding it together. Helped I think by the lack of spot on predictions.

  • John Hughes still shading it in the lead – which as he has retired, he has more time to dedicate to research!
  • Jake Hopper and Craig Taylor in joint second

Still everything to play for – we have only had 18.75% of the games played so far.
