Well, who would have thought that both finalists from 2006 are already out of the World Cup. Looks like European teams simply cannot play outside of their own continent!! We will see. So well done Slovakia. In terms of the evening games, nothing as exciting with the only real contest being killed off early by two Japanese free-kicks!


In terms of our competition, things have just been squeezed at the top – a combination of group table points and excellent predictions has seen Mike Harris’s lead cut to 2 points. In second place, Joe Drew has been leapfrogged by Gareth Lewis.

Whilst 24 people predicted the 2-1 in the Netherlands game, there were notable performances from Sam Drew and Gareth Lewis who were the only two people to go for a Japanese win. In the groups, Gareth again and Dean Fletcher were the only two people to pick up 10 points in Group E. Meanwhile in Group F, nobody predicted the Paraguay / Slovakia combo (why ever not?).

At the end of the table, after a quick jig in the few places above last place, Duncan has once again settled back into the sediment of the competition. And here are the graphs…
