Welcome to the tenth update of the World Cup 2022 ONS Superbru competition!!

Australia 1 Denmark 0

Great result for Australia after a great goal from Leckie and they make it out of the group.
Denmark should have spent less time virtue signalling and more time working out how to score goals. A talented group of players scored just one goal across three games and amassed one point. Stick to the Lego.

In our pool, unsurprisingly Craig McLaren remained patriotic with a win but he was joined by Gemma Keane and Katherine Kent. No exact scores though.

Tunisia 1 France 0

Heartbreak for Tunisia and the definition of a hollow victory after beating France but missing out on qualification to the knockout stages. It looked like it was going to be a draw but the Griezman goal was disallowed.

Despite the great showing from the North Africans it ends up in heartbreak.

In our pool, we had three plucky souls who went for a draw, which almost came off but in the end no points all round.

Just adding in this link from Craig McLaren – which provides advice to Australian employers today!

Saudia Arabia 1 Mexico 2

Mexico threw everything they had at Saudi Arabia and in the end failure in earlier games bit them on the arse here. At one point it looked like disciplinary record would be the way the group was decided but a late goal from Saudi Arabia made it a bit more clear cut. In reality, that goal didn’t matter to Mexico as if they scored again they would have progressed on goals scored.

In our pool we had three people picking the classic 2-1; Jamie Pritchard, Jon Whitehouse and Jason Stokes.

Poland 0 Argentina 2

Amazing old thing the World Cup, Argentina lose their first game to Saudi Arabia and it is the end of the world. By the third game, they are the only team looking comfy. Poland are abject and offer very little, but their two goals in three games was enough to get them through.
Don’t think they will be venturing much further in the competition.

In our pool, Gavin Edwards was the only person to scoop all three points!!

Pool Results

We are almost at the end of the group stages already and Pete Lee is our Round 3 leader, but the overall lead has been taken over by Pete Reynolds (albeit by some complicated sub-rule). It is all still very much to play for!

  1. Pete Reynolds – 37.5
  2. Craig Taylor – 37.5
  3. Gareth Luckwell – 36
