Write-up number four sees the World Cup hotting up as it builds up to crunch time. Still haven’t seen anything convincing from any team yet, apart perhaps Russia and Croatia.

Denmark v Australia

Eriksen scored a cracking goal to see it levelled by another penalty in the tournament. One of these teams will be disappointed with Peru going home and France through. Nice to see the Aussie fans getting into the swing of things (see below). We had eleven people predicting a draw picking up all three points.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">So there’s this. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/DENAUS?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#DENAUS</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/worldcup?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#worldcup</a> <a href="https://t.co/MPtXM1UFiC">pic.twitter.com/MPtXM1UFiC</a></p>— Cameron Atfield (Кэмерон Атфилд) (@CameronAtfield) <a href="https://twitter.com/CameronAtfield/status/1009781002661658625?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 21, 2018</a></blockquote><!-- [et_pb_line_break_holder] --><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Peru v France

Peru are so unlucky to go home after two 1-0’s. France didn’t improve from the first game and shut up shop after they scored. Don’t think France will last long after the knock-outs. At the same time, France are reaping the profits of West Africa. We had four people predicting the 1-0, Nick Hughes, Jon Lavercombe, Jamie Pritchard and the Lee/Deb combo.

Argentina v Croatia

Argentina were tragic in every way tonight and the result was inevitable. Quite why only two people went for a Croatia win is amazing. Argentina basically played 5-0-5 and no-one was prepared to work for anyone else. There should have been a few reds in the game as well – especially Otamendi. Unfortunately, Argentina still have a chance, but hopefully Messi will be getting an early lovely summer break. Shame about the last goal at this meant that only me and Mark Taylor got one point, but big balls!

Brazil v Costa Rica

Costa Rica held out so long against Brazil but two late goals means they are out of the competition. Quite why Neymar was crying after the game is a mystery – needs a good kick up the arse. Thirteen people got this result right.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Neymar crying because he didn't dive enough 😂 <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/BRACRC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#BRACRC</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/WorldCup?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#WorldCup</a> <a href="https://t.co/W0GUOCwawS">pic.twitter.com/W0GUOCwawS</a></p>— World Cup Goals (@FIFAWCGoals) <a href="https://twitter.com/FIFAWCGoals/status/1010161631148630017?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 22, 2018</a></blockquote><!-- [et_pb_line_break_holder] --><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Nigeria v Iceland

Gutted. Put all my faith in the Super Eagles for the first game and they didn’t show, but they came back to life in the second half of this game. Musa scored two cracking goals and they are back in the competition. If they play like that again, they can blow Argentina back to Buenos Aires. No-one got it spot on, but four people were close: Craig McLaren, Dave Matthews, Gareth Luckwell and Dave Matthewson.

Serbia v Switzerland

What happened in this game? The team that are like the World Cup itself with players from every corner of the world playing under the Swiss flag of convenience. Serbia were all over them, but a late goal from Xherdan Shaqiri saw them steal the game. Switzerland upped the stakes in piss taking and out did Tunisia in a two man hold and no penalty.Convenient that the referee was German eh? Six people got this spot on and some new additions to the three pointers: Rachel Meyrick, Jen Greenwood, Rob Doody, David Bailey, Owain Thomas and Pete Lee.

After the fourth update Lee/Deb storm to the top with Duncan in second.
