Seeing it is the weekend Just doing a single update for the weekend matches. On Saturday, the first game saw a brilliant performance from Iran against Argentina. Iran had the best chances of the game, but it was left to that little pain in the arse, Messi, to spoil it for Iran with a brilliant strike. Iran deserved so much more from the game.

Second up was Ghana v Germany, and Ghana upped their game and put together an excellent performance and pushed Germany. Germany looked fairly ordinary – making it all so intriguing.

The third game saw Nigeria shade Bosnia 1-0, with a last minute goal. Didn’t see too much of that one – enjoying the warm evening in the pub garden!

Sunday saw what sounded a dire game between Belgium and Russia. Despite all the star names, Belgium don’t seem to be able to function well as a team. Perhaps they will grow into the I tournament, but as it stands they are extremely lucky to to have six points.

The South Korea v Algeria game was a cracker. South Korea were abject in the first half, which saw Algeria score three excellent goals.

The final game was a corker. Portugal taking the early lead in very humid conditions, but in the second half USA scored two goals and looked like to have made it into the second round but for the last kick of the game form Portugal. A cracker, shame Portugal didn’t get knocked out there and then!

In the important competition, we have seen another batch of unpredictable results, which has since some shifts in the leaderboard. Our Round 4 leader so far is David Bailey, which brings hum up to mid-table and Mrs Drew has leapt 14 places to seventh.  Special shout to Gemma Keane who not just the only person to pick Ghana v Germany to be a draw, but also put 2-2. Gemma then followed this up with a 2-1 prediction of Nigeria beating Bosnia – only three people picked the win. Again, not many picked Algeria to be beat South Korea and David Bailey had the nearest score. In the final game there were eight people all sat there with USA to win 2-1, only for it to be dashed in the final seconds – Debs, Jon Simpson and John C Hughes get it bang on.

Leaderboard as follows:
