It’s coming home – well it has been mostly at home actually.

Italy 1 Spain 1 [Italy through on penalties]

In the final reckoning, Chiellini did a great job on Jordi Alba in the penalty shoot-out toss. Morata proved why he should never take penalties again in his life and Italy get to the final. An entertaining game, but both teams lack something up front.

In our competition Pete Jones and John Hughes both picked the 1-1.

England 2 Denmark 1 [AET]

Still don’t quite understand why Southgate didn’t make substitutions earlier – I know he is being lauded, but England were begging for a change from the middle of the second half and it isn’t as if he doesn’t have the fire power on the bench. But anyway, England reach their first final in 55 years thanks to a spawny penalty. England weren’t convincing, but still looked fresh after 120 minutes – Sterling and Walker need to be drug tested. For the non-English amongst us, you may only have another four days to put up with the hyperbole, but if England win, it will be all you hear for the next 55 years!

In our competition, we had five getting the correct score John Hughes, Stuart Luckwell, Pete Lee, Dean Goodway and Ian Carrington-Porter.

Pool Results

With one game to go, John Hughes took the honours in the semi-final with two spot on predictions. In terms of the overall standings it is unbelievable Jeff, we have the top three all on the same points. It may come down to technicalities in the rules at this stage. Good luck all and Forza England.

  1. Pete Lee – 57.5
  2. Gavin Edwards – 57.5
  3. Pete Jones – 57.5
